Well-being afternoon.

What a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Yoga students booked in for an Indian Head Massage, at the lovely premises of Planetary Healing. Extra treats of honey and coconut oil face mask for a truly pampering session, ending with a lovely relaxation, and great Pukka teas.

Have a block programme at the start of the year to run for 8 Fridays with mums and young children. You are never too young to do what the body is designed for and that is to move, be creative and free in your own body. The fun begins with Funny Little Monkey sitting in a tree, look ahead tell me what you see....

Reducing pain

Meditation makes you stronger against pain

A research group from the University of Montreal exposed 13 Zen masters and 13 comparable non-practitioners to equal degrees of painful heat while measuring their brain activity in a functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scanner. What they discovered is that the Zen meditation (called zazen) practitioners reported less pain. Actually, they reported less pain than their neurological output from the fMRI indicated. So, even though their brain may be receiving the same amount of pain input, in their mind’s there is actually less pain.

Smiling

Smile

‘Whistle while you work.” “Laugh off the pain." "Laugher is the best medicine." These are all phrases we drop into our every day language, but is there a little bit of science behind such thoughts?

Studies have shown that smiling boosts your immune system by stimulating your body to produce more white blood cells (WBC). Hospitalised children visited by storytellers and puppeteers who made them smile and laugh had higher WBC counts than children who weren’t visited.

HAZEL Y

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER, UK

My job demands as an architectural designer were intense and stressful, but after I started a regular course in Dru the quality of my life started to change.
Thanks to my regular Dru Yoga practice, I am able to meet the challenges at work head on. I am now actually enjoying delivering presentations to important clients and closing a deal, whereas before I sometimes felt like crumbling under the pressure! I have clearer focus to prepare and organise my busy schedules, and as a result I seem to have more time in a day.
Dru gives me more energy, makes me a brighter and a more creative person all round and made my recent move abroad to the Middle East a breeze.
And the good news is, Dru Yoga is easy, you don't have to be able to do the lotus to start to practise. Just Dru it!

Breathing

Deep breathing ensures a good supply of oxygen to the brain and body and is vital in supporting good health and posture.

Breathing techniques help to calm the nervous system, reduce stress and anxiety and build up inner strength and confidence.

The breath is one of the greatest tools we have to change the way we feel.

Meditation

Meditation

October 31, 2016

Take time in your day to meditate.

Someone asked a master of meditation to describe what meditation is. The master kept giving answers that only satisfied the student for a short while. Eventually when the student asked the master again yet again to explain, the master looked at the student and said. "Look, i will tell you one more time. You know that there are gaps between your thoughts, don't you?" The student nodded, and the master continued. Focus your awareness on the gaps and make them longer...That is meditation!
